Thesis Log: Time Flies

Today went past almost in a blur, it did. Mostly I spent more time tinkering with Pyro, paving the way for NPCs that will actually talk to the player instead of immediately beating him to a pulp, like most monsters do. It's not really very challenging, and thus not interesting to write about... it's just time-consuming, especially when you need to pause and think about certain details. Anyway, there's a more interesting half to today, too.

Based on yesterday's work, I've been thinking about how to reduce these findings to some sort of grammatical system that can be used to describe not only quests, but their quest-givers, their place int he world, and their motivations. The main issue right now is making sure they all link up in a way that makes sense, and most of all, to formalize these links.

I'm feeling a little bit uncertain about committing to a strategy right now. I have a few ideas, but I have no idea how they would perform once implemented. In fact I'm beginning to have trouble visualizing them conceptually, too... I'd really like to try them out and see empirically whether the result is nice or not. For that matter, I'm having troubles figuring out just how to write all this down formally. I mean, I know what I'm thinking, but I'm unsure of how to record it.

Anyway, in the meantime, I need to update the main thesis document. I will do so tomorrow... it'll probably take up a fair chunk of time.

Good about updating the thesis document, send it to me when you're done. And I don't expect it to be complete or even in a comprehendable state :)
