Newstyle
Posted on February 9 2008 — monkeyblah — 3 comments
I made a new design for the site. About time. It's 2008 now, time for new fancy things. Personally, I think this is better and slightly more accessible. There may be some problems here and there; if so, let me know about them. In other news, I'm going to try to update more in the future. My work on the thesis is almost over, so I'm going to have time to do so.

The Monkey Moves
Posted on January 6 2008 — monkeyblah — 0 comments
Some of you may have noticed a little bit of downtime this morning. That's because monkeyblah has changed hosts once again, now being hosted by the wonderful people at Servut.us. Apart from the usual shakiness involved with a DNS change, the migration seems to have gone perfectly smoothly, largely thanks to AKX and buddies at Servut.us, and I hope there will be no more interruptions as we continue to move into 2008. That is all.

Upgrades: Markdown
The site code now uses Markdown, both for the blog posts and, most importantly for you, in comments. Go on, try it. Everything except trying to insert XHTML ought to work.

The Thesis Log
Monkeyblah has a new section, which may not be all that interesting to most of you. As some of you know, I am currently writing my Master's thesis in computer science at Chalmers University of Technology, on the topic of Computer-generated video game narratives.
Well, as it turns out, my discipline isn't the greatest in the world, a woe well-known to anyone who's been a student for any length of time. Work is simply not getting done at the pace I need it to. Taking a cue from my good friend Jolle, I've decided to keep a log of my daily activities on the thesis, and that's what the new section is for. In reality, it's just a listing of posts bearing the thesis-log tag, but it's good enough. Posts bearing this tag are not shown on the front page or in date listings; you have to look for the tag specifically to see any such entries.
The purpose of this log is twofold; for one, to document my work, but more importantly to keep me motivated. Public visibility and accountability makes for a powerful motivator. For the rest of you, hey, maybe it'll interest some of you.
Edit: Here's the first entry, for today.

Software upgrades: RSS, Trackback, Captcha
Posted on July 18 2007 — announcement, monkeyblah — 0 comments
Just added a few more trinkets to the site so it looks more like a civilized site and not so... ghetto.
In particular, there's an RSS feed on the right along with an element in the page header, as well as Trackback capability. I also fiddled with the captcha functionality and replaced the font, and fancied up some parts of the sidebar.

We're Back In Business
Posted on July 11 2007 — announcement, monkeyblah — 7 comments
Guess who's risen from the dead? That's right, yours truly is back in the saddle, mixing metaphors like it's nobody's business and ready to shake things up once more. Did you miss me? Of course you did.
